Athlete Scholarships

PCSS has compiled the following list of athlete scholarships from outside organizations and foundations.  If you think that we have missed a scholarship that should be included in this list, please contact Jackie Wilkinson.


Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF)

The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF) is currently accepting requests for financial assistance through Friday, October 13th for Park City Ski & Snowboard (PCSS) program fees for Nordic, Freestyle, Freeski, Snowboard, and Youth Development sport programs for the 2023/24 Winter season. The goal/purpose of this need-based scholarship program is to create opportunities for all individuals/families to participate in PCSS sport programs regardless of ability to pay. Granted scholarship money is only available to apply to Winter 2023/24 program fees. Funds are not guaranteed and are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Level 1 Scholarships

Applications for Level 1 scholarships are currently closed.

Entry level program scholarships (need is based on self-reported monthly household income).

Eligible programs

  • Skimo - Devo
  • Ski Jumping - Fundamentals 1 & 2 Day, Try Fundamentals
  • Cross Country - Mini Gliders, Kickers & Gliders, Devo Prep, Club
  • Devo Freestyle - Devo Weeknights Only
  • Youth Development - all programs eligible, but no need to complete a Level 1 application unless applying for more than 75% scholarship

Scholarship Eligibility based on Household Income

  • 25% of program tuition - available for household monthly income of $9,584 up to $12,750
  • 50% of program tuition - available for household monthly income less than $9,584
  • 75% of program tuition - available to athletes who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch under the National School Lunch Program
  • IMPORTANT! Please complete the Level 2 application if seeking a scholarship to cover more than 75% of program tuition

 

Level 2 scholarships

Applications for Level 2 scholarships are currently closed.

Standard scholarship request. Athletes registering for any other PCSS programs (excluding Alpine) may apply for this needs-based scholarship.

Application must include:

  • Participant information form filled out completely, including statement written by athlete. If athlete is under age 12, a family member may assist athlete with written statement.
  • Assets/liability information section of form - optional
  • Copy of 2022 Federal income tax form, including Schedule C if applicable
  • Letter of recommendation from teacher, employer, etc. We ask that the primary sport coach not write a letter of recommendation
  • Social security number not required
  • Thank you note to UOLF donors with optional photo in sporting action

 


Park City Ski Education Foundation (PCSEF)

  • Who: Current paid members of the PCSS Alpine division - full time U14, U16 and FIS Level
  • What: The Park City Ski Education Foundation (PCSEF) Board of Trustees is committed to providing financial assistance to PCSS Alpine athletes in order for them to pursue ski racing excellence. These Scholarships are designed to provide critical funds for qualified, talented athletes who otherwise would be unable to pursue their ski racing ambitions. Awarded scholarship monies will be applied directly to the participant’s PCSS Alpine tuition expense, camps, competitions or other projects.
  • When: Applications accepted on a rolling basis

YSA STEIN ERIKSEN SCHOLARSHIPS 

The Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) offers need-based scholarships to deserving athletes who are enrolled in YSA member clubs. The purpose of the YSA Stein Eriksen “Dare to Dream” Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to athletes who are unable to participate or compete without the help of scholarship funding. Funds for the scholarship are provided by the Stein Eriksen YSA Opportunity Endowment and scholarship donations raised through JANS Winter Welcome, an annual fundraising dinner.

  • Spring scholarships help athletes who qualify for post-season competitions and/or camps they qualify for during their season.
  • IMPORTANT! Athletes must provide a recommendation completed by their coach or program manager as part of the application.

Application Period A: February 12 - February 22. Awards will be announced via email by March 8

Application Period B: March 15 - April 1. Awards will be announced via email by April 17

APPLY FOR YSA STEIN ERIKSEN DARE TO DREAM SCHOLARSHIP


Lindsey Vonn Foundation

This application is currently closed. Please revisit their website in January 2024, this organization is updating their scholarship information for the upcoming Fall application for Winter 2023 programs. Information below is from January 2023. 

  • Who: Female athletes aged 10-18 at the time of application. Financial need based on household income, number of dependents, and location/cost of living.
  • What: The Lindsey Vonn Foundation offers two types of scholarships. Enrichment scholarships are a financial aid option to allow the next generation of girls to pursue their passion in academic and enrichment activities to reach their goals. Must be 10 to 18 years of age at the time of application. Applicants must be financially in-need based on the Federal Poverty Line.  Scholarship limit amount: $5,000.
  • Another scholarship offered is the Sport Scholarship. This is a financial aid option to allow female athletes to improve their technique, build confidence, and reach their goals. Must be 10 to 18 years of age at the time of application. Applicants must be financially in-need based on the Federal Poverty Line. Scholarship limit amount: $5,000. Athletes may only apply for one of the above scholarships per funding round.

I9 Sports Association

  • Who: Youth athletes under the age of 18
  • What: The i9 Sports Association offers scholarship grants to offset youth sports program registration fees for boys and girls under the age of 18. This association offers grants for up to $150 for youth recreational activities throughout the U.S. 
  • When: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Grants are awarded in February, May, August, and November.

World Cup DreamS

  •  World Cup Dreams Foundation (WCDF) exists to support, protect and inspire athletes. 
    • On the Rise Grant: The goal of this grant is to assist athletes that are on the cusp of reaching the next level of elite racing. Grant awards are between $1,500 - $3,000. Eligibility requirements include: Birth Year 2001-2007, Alpine or Cross-Country Athlete, or Non-national team athlete. Application deadline is July 31, 2023
    • Arco Grant:  Their mission involved identifying U16 athletes who have exceptional performance and who therefore indicate potential for future eligibility for other WCDF grants. Grant awards are between $1,000 - $2,500+. Eligibility for this grant includes: Birth Year 2008-2009 and Alpine Athlete. Applications are due by July 31, 2023
    • When: Applications now open. Grant applications are due July 31, 2023.

  • Who: PCSS Alpine division - U12 / U14 (part time)

Gordon Lange Scholarship (Cross Country)

About Gordon: Gordon was a long time Park City resident who coached for more than 40 years at all levels. He made a positive impact on the hundreds of athletes he coached. He had a lifelong passion for cross country skiing and working with athletes. More important than results, Gordon wanted athletes who he worked with to be good people, be considerate of others, do their best, and learn valuable life skills through sports. 

  • What: A merit, character, and needs based scholarship for current PCSS cross country comp athletes to go toward race or camp expenses. Can include team travel. 
  • When: Online application is now available, and will close on February 5, 2024. With the application, please submit a letter or video with what you need the scholarship for and why you are applying. Scholarships will be announced in mid-February. Live Like Sam

This application is currently closed. Information below is from the 2021/22 season as a reference.

  • Who: 
    • Be between 6th and 12th grade during the 2021-2022 school year
    • Live or attend school in Summit County, Utah
    • Willing to participate in a post-experience interview with the Live Like Sam Foundation
  • What: The purpose of the Give Like Sam Grant is to provide resources for young, community-minded individuals (and groups) to plan and carry out meaningful service projects to benefit the Summit County Communities. We encourage students to identify needs in our community, brainstorm solution and apply for funding to put their plan into action. All ideas are welcome, no matter how big or small.
  • When: Application closes December 15th and awarded January, 2021
